What You'll Contribute
Sallie Mae has an opportunity to support and help further build out the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) function across the organization. This role will work closely with the EDG team to support strategy, execution, and maintenance of the function. This role will help in development and implement Enterprise Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Management principles based on the Three Lines of Defense model, supporting the creation and promotion of policies, processes, and standards to ensure coordination, standardization, and alignment of business unit Data Governance, Quality and Management activities with Enterprise Data Risk Management objectives.
What You'll Do
Manage tasks related to strategic deployment of Enterprise Data Governance
Manages rollout tasks related to the implementation of the EDG roadmap
Oversees multiple work streams related to EDG
Provides project management and document management of artifacts related to EDG
Owns the development and refinement of policies, procedures, and desktop approaches for EDG
Supports the EDG leadership in the creation of all Executive Management reporting/presentations linked with the EDG organization and its scope of responsibilities
Coordinate directly with data owners and data stewards across the enterprise
Serves as the Critical Reporting Administrator in overseeing the evaluation of new/changed critical reporting provided to the Board and/or regulators
Maintains ongoing interactions with key technology and business stakeholders
Monitors projects and strategic initiatives for data impacts and opportunities
Supports the EDG leadership team in the creation and dissemination of key EDG strategies
Provides feedback, guidance, and support to enterprise contacts relating to data-driven efforts
Provide thought leadership on data-related matters
Researches industry trends and key market information for continuous program improvement
Understands tools and technologies linked with data movement, storage, reporting, and analytics
Engages and supports the risk, compliance, and audit organizations to understand data opportunities and challenges impacting their organizations
Support the maturation and evolution of EDG at Sallie Mae
Seeks to improve the knowledge, skills, and productivity of the EDG organization
Works to ensure the EDG organization adds value to the broader Sallie Mae

What You Have
Minimum Education, Skills and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
6+ years of professional business experience with a progressive track record of accomplishments in data related fields, such as Enterprise Data Governance, Information Governance, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Data Quality, or Data Management
Ability to work with Business Process Owners on Process Decomposition / Business Rule Identification / Data quality analysis
Understanding of core concepts involved in data (data quality, usage) and ability to understand how these concepts impact SLM and our business
Basis of understanding around overall Data Governance principles
Strong project management and coordination skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects
Understanding of Student Loans / overall Loan and collection lifecycles (e.g., the business)
Knowledge of the tools landscape within Enterprise Data Governance (Metadata, data discovery, master data, quality) and potentially experience implementation one of them
