WATTS Manager, Global Sustainability Programs in North Andover, Massachusetts
The Manager, Global Sustainability Programs will provide strategic guidance and lead the execution of sustainability strategies across Watts. This position will be responsible for advising, developing, and deploying Watts global environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and influencing the business units to drive adoption of ESG as a core business principle through strategy development/execution, business process integration, training, employee engagement, data capture and reporting, and impact measurement.
Working with the E, S, and G Leaders and the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), the Manager, Global Sustainability Programs will:
• Establish the Watts Sustainability Council and own the operating system for the Council• Advise the Environmental, Social and Governance leaders to establish a strategic roadmap and implementation of Watts global sustainability program • Lead the development and oversight of a corporate sustainability performance scorecard that measures Watts key economic, environmental and social impacts– Footprint, handprint and communities.• Provide training to grow the capability for sustainability across the organization: Global Leadership Team; Environmental, Social and Governance Leaders; America’s and European Leadership Team; Functions; General Population• Consider sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs• Work closely with internal cross-functional partners to provide input to sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for stakeholders, employees, media, government, community partners, etc.; Chair the production of the Corporate Sustainability Report• Monitor and improve Watts performance on standard ESG (environmental, social, and governance) metrics and ratings• Interface with and provide dashboards and reports to senior executives• Continuously research and evaluate evolving corporate responsibility metrics best practices and apply relevant learning to improve our ability to measure the impact of our programs
Working with Sustainability Engineers, the Manager, Global Sustainability Programs will:• Develop and implement short- and long-term modern strategies that address various environmental concerns including climate and energy, waste reduction, pollution, packaging, water use and capital planning• Develop and implement strategies to develop our Handprint: How our products and services solve our Customers and communities Sustainability Challenges• Work in close partnership with key business units such as finance, human resources, sourcing, supply chain, IT, Safety, and manufacturing to develop continuous improvement strategies, monitor performance, and provide subject matter expertise on sustainability issues across multiple sites globally• Collect results data from business teams and partners and perform independent, unbiased analysis of the results• Promote broad awareness of sustainability initiatives both internally and externally• Growing an organic approach to sustainability across the organization; coaching leaders to lead sustainability within their areas; developing relevant corporate KPI’s for the businesses and functions
Education:• Bachelor's degree in related field required• Advanced degree, such as MBA preferred
Management:• 2 Direct reports – Sustainability Engineers in Europe and America’s• 1 indirect report – Product Sustainability Engineer• Ensure Watts policies are followed• Enforce Watts safety policies
Minimum Requirements:• 7 – 10 years of previous experience in Global Sourcing, Supply Chain or Sustainability.• Previous experience in a leadership position in the sustainability within a global organization preferred• Demonstrated ability and experience in leading, designing, managing, and evaluating sustainable strategies & programs.• Excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Ability to think strategically, identify emerging issues, analyze potential impacts, and translate ideas and insights into viable recommendations for action.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work and influence cross-functionally as well as internationally.• Familiarity with socially responsible investing within global capital markets• Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%
