Teradyne Software Engineering Manager in North Reading, Massachusetts

Organization & Role

Teradyne is looking for a Software Engineering manager with customer engagement skills to work directly with key account and oversee all aspects of software support. Continuing Software Engineering (CSWE) provides customers with solutions for critical production and engineering problems affecting the IG-XL and ETS platforms. By proactively communicating with key accounts on a regular cadence, Continuing SW ensures all cases are properly managed.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with field teams and customers to understand, track, and resolve issues affecting the product.

  • Maintain detailed status and action plan for customer objectives owned by the team

  • Provide constant communication with external customers to review and establish priorities

  • Provide cross-functional management to engineers in CSWE to deliver on customer expectations. Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required to resolve critical customer escalations

  • Provide technical expertise in all aspects of CSWE by actively mentoring others in root cause analysis, software process, and resolution delivery

  • Manage direct staff as necessary to support the CSWE organization

  • Responding to common inquiries and/or complaints from customers and field support

  • Author reports, presentations, and procedures

  • Effectively communicate/present information to management

  • Assimilate and articulate technical concepts

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve practical problems

Experience, Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of direct management, project leadership, and/or team leadership experience

  • 7+ years in software sustaining or software development.

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry. Understanding of the automated test equipment industry plus

  • Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to work cross-functionally

  • Ability to lead and motivate others, communicating vision, setting goals and objectives, monitoring metrics and progress, and empowering the team to be successful.

  • Ability to communicate at different levels of abstraction, and provide periodic updates to senior management and directors.

  • Thorough knowledge of risk management, and failure modes and effects analysis

  • Understanding of time-to-market, cost-of-test, yield management, and relevant production concepts

  • Demonstrable ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly with an in depth understanding of Excel

  • Experience with C#/VBA, embedded, and multi-threaded programming a plus

  • Creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems

  • Strong commitment to product quality.

  • Experience with Agile software development process is a plus.

  • Full product life cycle experience from concept to customer support is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university required

  • Master's degree in EE/CS or MBA a plus
