Aspen Aerogels, Inc. Systems Administrator in Northborough, Massachusetts

Aspen Aerogels, Inc. is a rapidly growing company founded in 2001 to capitalize on proprietary and patented advances in aerogel technology. Aspen has developed a proprietary, easy-to-use blanket form of aerogels with broad application to a variety of markets including Oil & Gas, Building & Construction, Outdoor Gear & Apparel, Solar Thermal, Appliances and Transportation. With facilities in Northborough, Mass and East Providence, RI, Aspen has 250 employees.

Summary of Duties:

The Systems Administrator will be part of a team responsible for the daily administration of the company’s IT infrastructure. This person will provide hands-on technical support and expertise to ensure stability and optimum performance of systems in the East Providence manufacturing facility and other Aspen locations. This position offers an extensive growth opportunity for the right candidate, including evaluating new technologies, process and standards improvement, and vendor management. The candidate will also perform other tasks and responsibilities assigned including working after business hours and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily administration to ensure performance, stability and uptime for the operational IT systems.

  • Support VMware virtual Infrastructure storage and network systems

  • Support on-premise and cloud business applications

  • Maintain system backup and software to ensure optimum performance

  • Assist with defining, procurement and implementation systems consistent with business policies and guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and support partners in supporting plant operations.

  • Resolve IT service requests in a timely fashion to include recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow up

  • Adopt and follow Aspen’s core values of Safety, Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer and Innovation on both a personal and professional level.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A 4 year Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent working experience

  • Experience with VMware & Hyper-V virtualization technologies preferred

  • Understating of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANS, and wireless network terminologies

  • Knowledge of backup/restore and DR technologies

  • Proven ability to manage Windows server 2012, 2016 preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office365 and Azure administration.

  • Working knowledge of Active Directory Domains, Forests & Group Policy

  • Experience working with terminal and Remote Desktop Services.

  • Identifies single points of failure and opportunities for improvement in overall IT infrastructure

  • Familiarity with manufacturing and plant-floor specific technologies and concepts are a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with solid verbal/written communication skill

  • Ability to multitask with strong project management skills

  • Organized and thorough individual with the ability to complete projects on schedule.

    Certification Requirements:

Successful candidatemust have at least two of the following certifications

  • CCNA Routing & Switching

  • Network + Certifications

  • MCTS, MCSA or MCIPT

  • VMware VCP6-DCV

NOTE: This is an industrial manufacturing environment. Our process creates dust, there is a consistent, noticeable chemical odor in the plant, and some individuals may find the dust and odor irritating.
