Oversees and manages the technical and project management aspects of ongoing engineering development projects in support of the advancement of the REMUS product roadmap. Serves as liaison between product management, project team, and line management. May serve in a dual role as individual technical contributor and engineering project lead. Aligns resources with tasking, reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet technical, productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. Utilizes project management tools for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving, including variance analysis and corrective action.
Advanced level of technical understanding in defense, undersea or aerospace design and manufacturing projects. Involves a broad grasp of involved practices and procedures. Maintains a high level of technical engagement across all engineering disciplines and acts as an advisor to functional leads and team members. Helps meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
Position requires proven skills in product design and development, managing multi-disciplinary engineering, design, and test teams. Position will also require individual to efficiently review customer solicitations and assist with the preparation of timely and accurate cost, management, and technical proposals to achieve the solicitation’s requirements. Must be able to articulate questions and provide design / engineering solutions that are based upon proven engineering analyses.Responsible for technical project management and engineering oversight of complex company or customer funded project(s), including requirements development and/or tracking, cost, schedule, and technical performance. Manage all phases of tasks / projects from inception through completion, risk analysis & mitigation and scope control.
Acts as primary customer (internal and external) contact for project activities, leading project review sessions with customers and management. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing specifications (contractual and/or internally developed). Directs the work of employees assigned to project(s). Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
Must have secret clearance #LI-MH1
Experience with system design and development in the undersea domain is preferred.
Experience with advanced manufacturing practices, procedures, and processes.
Experience with project scheduling software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project)
Experience in Earned Value Management environment
Experience working in a matrix organization with geographically dispersed teams
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
