HII USG has an exciting systems engineering role to develop, integrate, and test autonomous undersea vehicles. This individual will perform a variety of efforts relating to the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for undersea vehicles and their associated auxiliary equipment. Under the supervision of the project engineer and senior systems engineer on the program, this person will work closely with the engineering team to transfer product definitions into specifications, concepts, drawings, integrated assemblies, and succesffuly validated new vehicles and auxiliary equipment.

Unmanned Systems

+ + Unmanned Systems, a business group within Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Technical Solutions division, creates advanced unmanned maritime solutions for defense, marine research and commercial applications. Serving customers in more than 30 countries, HII provides design, autonomy, manufacturing, testing, operations and sustainment of unmanned systems, including unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) and unmanned surface vessels (USVs)

What you will do

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

What we are looking for

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with product devlopment practices, including requirements management and/or test case management

  • Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering, including robotics, ocean engineering, aerospace engineering, or systems engineering

  • Must have a secret clearance #LI-MH1

Bonus Points for

  • Undersea product development or manufacturing experience

  • Integration of assemblies that include both hardware and software configuration items

  • Experience with troubleshooting processes

  • Operation of unmanned vehicles/drones

  • Software or Engineering Analysis Programming (C++, Matlab)

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
