The Cloud Platform Engineer is a key role within our Cloud Platform. This team is responsible for the availability, security, and overall performance of BCBSMA’s Cloud hosting environment reporting to the Sr. Manager of Cloud Platform team. BCBSMA utilizes AWS as our primary Cloud hosting provider with other services running on Google and Microsoft Clouds. BCBSMA is at the start of our Cloud hosting journey. This role will work with a small insourced team and our Cloud Managed Service Provider to engineer and deploy new services within AWS. This role is responsible for validating the technical design and specifications to meet the need of business requests. This person along with his/her peers select the best hosting option to while balancing factors such as cost, security, scalability, and speed. BCBSMA is looking to expand our Cloud hosting footprint where it makes business and technical sense. Currently, BCBSMA hosts our Big Data and DevSecOps environment’s s within AWS. This Cloud Platform Engineer role will help develop an Enterprise Cloud hosting strategy for new projects allowing BCBSMA to understand the initial setup and on-ongoing support model associated with running services in the Cloud. He or she will work with business partners, internal stakeholders, and service providers to build and maintain Cloud Platform capabilities. This person will be responsible for monitoring and reporting Service Levels and Key Performance Indicators specific to our Cloud Platform. In addition to operational performance management, Cloud security compliance and IT administrative controls are critical services this person will help support. Performance, security, and financial metrics for our Cloud Platform need to be matured and communicated to key stakeholders. This person will help maintain and continuously improve our Cloud metrics in partnership with insourced and outsourced teams with clearly communicated roles and responsibilities. This engineer will manage and support numerous services within our AWS Cloud specializing in the Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) platform. In addition, this role will work closely with our DevSecOps and Data teams. Our Cloud Platform will be the foundation for our CI/CD pipeline and agile software development framework. This role will help build Cloud Platform automation and services creating a fast, secure, and scalable IaaS or PaaS environment.

Experience with DevSecOps, Software Development, Agile, CI/CD framework, Data Analytics, or Infrastructure Engineering
Hands-on experience managing and deploying public Cloud services within Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Hands on experience managing common AWS services: EC2, EKS, EMR, RDS, S3, VPC, CloudFormation etc.
Hands on experience managing container technology and microservices: PCF, Kubernetes, etc.
Excellent understanding and experience of cloud native application design principles (like micro-services, stateless application meant for cloud, containers etc.)
Maintain availability and resiliency of the large-scale PCF environments/foundations
Good hands-on experience in Linux systems (shell scripts, system activity reports, stats, familiarity with processes, dump, and log analysis)
Taking care of upgrades, application onboarding, resolving application issues with deployment on PCF foundation, bosh level troubleshooting, Backup, and recovery
Experience as an operator with Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Open Source Cloud Foundry
Understanding of clusters, distributed architecture, container environments
Operational experience for the tiles supported in PCF (e.g. MySQL, RabbitMQ, Redis)
Familiarity with application and infrastructure monitoring tools such as New Relic, Data Dog, Splunk, etc.
Experience with container technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, PCF etc.
Knowledge on CI/CD tools like Bosh, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Git, Concourse is preferred
Experience working on or leading agile development teams (ideally leveraging Scrum or Kanban)
Knowledge of PaaS products such as: OpenShift, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk, or similar
Experience with Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo, TeamCity, and other Continuous Integration tools
Experience with Spring, Spring Security, Spring MVC, Spring Integration, Spring Data & Spring Boot
Experience with production systems and dealing with production issues

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and/or Technical certifications such as AWS
5 - 10 years of work experience within Information Technology
2 - 5 years of experience managing Cloud technology in matrix delivery organization with insourced and outsourced staff
Experience managing Cloud platform hosting within AWS and Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF). Cloud Big Data platform engineering experience is a plus
Solid understanding of Information Security principles and Defense in Depth framework
