Oracle Software Development Director, JoinOCI-Leadership in Quincy, Massachusetts

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

We're looking for a leader of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Data Platform team to work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Software Engineers to support near-real-time decisions, product launches and roadmaps by building the data architecture that informs and drives insight. In this role, you'll see a direct link between your work, company growth, and user satisfaction.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • 8 years of experience shipping services software

  • 5 years of dev manager experience.

  • Strong knowledge of data platforms, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Strong understanding of databases, big data systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science

  • Experience in a start-up environment

  • Experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

  • Strong grasp of Unix-like operating systems

  • Experience building data platforms with open source platforms a strong plus

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As adirector, you will be responsible for defining the roadmap for your team and be responsible for planning and executing key initiatives that not only leverage cutting edge OCI database and big data technologies, but also open source technologies like Kafka, Presto and Druid. You will be responsible to build and grow a team of data and software engineers. You will lead the development of data platform capabilities to enable data-driven product development and decision making.You should have technical depth, architectural know how, strong people and process manager and able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be obsessed with making your customers happy.
