Corin Electrical Engineer - US in Raynham, Massachusetts

Corin is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Electrical Engineer to join our Global Technology R&D team. The role will provide a supported development pathway in to the exciting, high impact teams with an opportunity to make an immediate contribution on established products. The Electrical Engineer will support established products as well as continuous improvement initiatives within development and testing. Your experiences in working with and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems will be critical and your product development skills which will be utilized from the start, with a complex technology integrating both traditional robotics, image processing, control systems as well as data science modelled algorithms all encapsulated in a user experience suitable for the demanding environment of medical devices, and stringently verified and validated under medical device regulatory frameworks.

This position is part of the Global R&D Technology team and will be in the Raynham US office, but the right candidate could be in Milpitas or Grenoble in France.

Corin has two major flagship products that form a major part of the wider CorinConnect ecosystem. Our OMNIBotics system utilizes intelligent robotic instrumentation to give surgeons the ability to perform patient-specific procedures with high accuracy, with more consistent results, and improved recovery rates. Our OPSInsight preoperative planning system utilizes advanced computational modeling to understand patient specific movement for planning the position of implants, optimizing functional implant alignment, and improving outcomes.

The key responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer are;

Platform Support - robotic medical device systems

  • Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical hardware issues.

  • Provide first level support for system hardware issues.

  • Determine root cause for system technological issues.

Continuous improvement - robotic medical device systems

  • Develop custom modules and user specific functionality.

  • Support component selection and qualification of hardware components.

  • Support alternate sourcing and design for manufacture improvements on existing products

  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions.

Processes

  • Maintain product hardware requirements and design specifications.

Testing

  • Collaborate with Software Engineering and Verification and Validation team to ensure system quality, functionality, and performance.

Learning and Development

  • Participate in technology innovation and data-driven design, risk assessments and project meetings.

  • Work with cross-functional teams, Marketing, Hardware Engineering, and contractors across the globe

  • Understand the architecture of the current products and provide support to development work performed by internal and external partners.

Requirements

The ideal Electrical Engineer will have / be

  • A graduate (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics (or comparable disciplines)

  • 1-3 years’ experience in hardware/system development environment

  • Newly qualified graduates will be considered with exceptional extra-curricular experience in hardware development projects (high technology fields)

  • Software interfacing systems development experience (robotics, control n, image processing and machinery systems)

  • Experience or a strong interest in medical devices / surgical areas

  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems.

  • The ability to interpret and create electrical schematics, PCB layouts.

  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and networking skills

  • Highly organized and proficient in quality documentation and compliance processes and procedures

  • Been exposed to Risk Assessment, Design of Experiments, Design for Manufacture

  • Comfortable with 3D data manipulation and mathematics, as well as verification and validation testing

  • An understanding in regulations and safety standards (ISO 13485, U.S Title 21 CFR 820, IEC 62304, IEC 62366, IEC 60601).
