J&J Family of Companies Senior Director, Digital Transformation Lead: Ethicon Energy Platform in Raynham, Massachusetts

Ethicon, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices, is currently recruiting Senior Director, Digital Transformation Lead for Ethicon's Energy Platform based in Cincinnati, OH. Alternative locations considered would be Somerville, NJ, Sunnyvale, CA and Boston/Raynham, MA.

The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platform and technologies including sutures, hemostats products, surgical staplers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices that are used in a wide variety of open and minimally invasive surgical procedures, and energy based surgical devices. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety, and effectiveness of surgery. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc was started within Ethicon, and was separated and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio over 20 years ago, developing innovative devices that have driven the revolutionary shift from open to minimally invasive surgery that continues to lead the industry today along with innovative energy devices for surgery.

The Senior Director, Digital Transformation Lead will accelerate Ethicon’s Energy business strategy to enhance market leadership in medical device innovation, enabled by outstanding digital solutions. He/she will lead the Energy platform transformation, including strategy and pipeline for device and software solutions that solve unmet clinical and surgical workflows and generate value through a connected and fully integrated digital surgical ecosystem.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead Front-End Marketing and New Product Development for next generation, digitally enabled surgical solutions

  • Lead internal end-to-end business transformation to enable execution of new strategy in a matrix environment

  • Partner with the R&D Front-End to align on priorities, process and governance and ensure experimentation to activate innovation and pipeline value

  • Partner within the Global Strategic Marketing, R&D and Regions to source innovation and insights from our customers and execute digital innovation pipeline solutions

  • Support business case development for new product and services

  • Develop business requirements for new products and improvements to existing portfolio solutions and partner with R&D on functional specifications and feature/function prioritization

  • Develop a team passionate about digitally enabled, next-generation Energy projects!

  • Demonstrate strong change leadership skills to enable transformation

  • Lead, motivate and empower teams to enable product development and launches

  • Improve team capabilities on surgical technology and digital healthcare devices, solutions and trends

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering or related field required. Advanced degree (e.g., M.B.A.) is highly preferred

  • 12+ years of engineering, marketing or marketing related experiences leading an integrated global portfolio

  • Relevant digital technologies such as sensors, connectivity, software, data science in healthcare required; 5+ years highly preferred

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience required

  • Prior experience shaping and leading business transformations

  • Proficiency with digital technologies, platforms, software and data science highly preferred

  • Outstanding financial acumen and business case development

  • Commercially savvy with knowledge of cross-functional processes in R&D, Quality, Supply Chain highly preferred

  • Proven track record working with surgeons, Key Opinion Leaders and C-Suite

  • The ability to travel up to 35%, to include domestic and international travel is required
