RedHat Principal Software Engineer in Remote, Massachusetts
The Red Hat Service Delivery team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will join a distributed team of software engineers immersed in the latest open source technologies. You will be responsible for building and owning end-to-end test pipelines, extending our existing test automation frameworks, and implementing new open source tools to verify the quality of Red Hat's managed services offerings. You will work with innovative technologies like Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based applications, container management, and cloud provider integrations. You’ll serve in a principal individual contributor role that requires demonstrable experience with automation and development, including continuous integration /continuous delivery (CI/CD) as a process and cultural element. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities
Ensure the team can continuously deliver software into production
Develop and maintain end-to-end test pipelines for Red Hat managed services
Build framework and integration documentation for development teams
Participate in test and product planning processes
Provide reports and recommendations for process improvement to architects
Ability to achieve goals based on general guidance with little oversight
Demonstrable experience with Prow CI
Demonstrable experience in operating a service that successfully utilized continuous delivery
5+ years of experience developing test automation
Solid verbal and written English skills; excellent communication skills
Excellent time management skills; ability to balance working on long-term projects and short-term tasks
Demonstrated experience in software development in a major, current language
Practical experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other public cloud infrastructures
5+ years experience with Linux fundamentals; experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a plus
Solid experience with Linux containers
The following skills are considered a plus:
Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes
Experience with Prow or Kubernetes test-infra
Background in Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) or operations
Experience in Golang development
Experience with Scrum processes and Jira as a task tracking tool
Team or project lead experience is a big plus
