RedHat Software Engineer in Remote, Massachusetts
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Westform, MA. In this role, you will be coordinating with other engineers, architects, product managers, scrum masters, and community members to write new features for a rapidly changing container technology. Edge is the footprint of devices that allow computing to push out beyond the datacenter. You’ll write code, review pull requests, fix bugs, update documentation, and work with other teams to design complete solutions. This is a great opportunity to learn how to work in a fast paced environment. As a Software Engineer, you’ll get to work on many emerging technologies, and maybe even create some new ones. You’ll need to work on your own because sometimes with these new technologies, documentation isn’t abundant but there are always architects and team leads around to help.
Primary job responsibilities
Complete tasks on a given timeline
Give demos to your peers on work you’ve completed each sprint
Design technical solutions to abstract problems
Ensure that the test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct
Design automated test plans
Quickly respond to security threats
Working knowledge of Linux
Working knowledge of Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Edge computing
Familiarity with Linux OS update mechanisms
Experience with device provisioning and deployment
Ability to learn new programming languages and technologies
Solid written and verbal English communication skills
Understanding of how open source and free software communities work
Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery
Worked with multiple low power devices like BeagleBone, Raspberry Pi, Le Potato, Banana Pi, or others
Familiarity with Linux containers, Docker, or Kubernetes a plus
Containers experience is a plus
