Newell Brands Quality Manager - Home Fragrance in South Deerfield, Massachusetts

JobSummary:

Quality Manager will support cross-functional teams to assist in identifying risks, investigating quality problems, identifying and implementing quality controls, and qualifying new or revised products and processes. Responsible for ensuring product quality and specification compliance for new product development for the Home Fragrance Division. Some travel will be required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Quality Engineers bysetting objectives, managing performance, providing focus/direction, anddeveloping talent.

  • Lead the design & implementationof quality best practices to support the new product development function witha focus on business results, including detection of potential defects and risksat the earliest phase of product design, customer satisfaction, reduced cycletime & cost.

  • Responsible for thedevelopment and execution of qualification plans for new products and changesto existing products/processes.

  • Work closely with cross-functionalpersonnel to identify and control potential quality issues in new and existingproducts.

  • Enforce a corrective action system that ensures the timely andpermanent resolution of all failures to meet established quality requirements

  • Enforce quality, safety andcompliance requirements.

  • Providequality technical support (as requested) to various functional groups

  • Developing Advanced Product QualityPlanning tools including Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Control Plans, ProductQuality Risk Assessments (PQRA) and PPAP.

  • Collaborate with internal/externalgroups to help determine root cause of customer/consumer defects, complaints,and corrective/preventative actions.

  • Analyze data from a variety ofsources to identify quality improvement opportunities and opportunities toreduce Cost of Quality.

  • Coordinate the timely review ofcustomer complaints, thorough analysis of root causes, and effectiveimplementation of corrective actions

  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizingdata in reports to management with recommendations.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’sdegree in engineering, technical engineering or science discipline.

  • Minimumof 3 years of operations/manufacturing/quality experience preferred.

  • Provenability to work in a matrix organization required.

  • Workingknowledge of quality methods and systems is required (statistics, reliability,sampling and auditing).

  • Superiorinterpersonal and communication skills are essential for dealing with alllevels of internal and external suppliers and customers

  • Proficientin Microsoft Office applications such as Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Strongproject management and problem-solving abilities

  • Planning,Organizing and Negotiation skills

  • Demonstratedability to handle multiple tasks and assignments

  • Strongleadership and conflict management skills

  • Superiorteamwork & communications skills

  • Knowledgeof PPAP/FMEA/Control plan/MSA/Error-proofing

  • Experiencedbackground in various types of manufacturing.Working knowledge in the plastics, metals or electric commodities ispreferred.

PreferredQualifications:

  • Consumerproducts industry experience.

  • SixSigma Green Belt/Black Belt.

  • Manufacturingexperience in countries outside of the U.S.
