Jacobs Transmission & Distribution Growth Director - North America in Southbridge, Massachusetts

Jacobs is looking for a Power industry professional that has a minimum of 20 years proven
domain knowledge with Electrical Utilities particularly within the Northeast of the United States
and solid experience in delivering technical sales into this market. This working understanding
should be focused on Substations, Lines and Cables at both distribution and Transmission
voltages. As Jacobs is a professional services organization, experience in design, consulting,
consenting, approvals and project management is also preferred.
As the Transmission & Distribution Growth Director - North America, you will be responsible for
top line growth across the Electrical Utilities market in North America, with a focus on
professional consulting, advisory, and technical services or solutions in the electric utility
Transmission and Distribution sector.
Additionally, working with our delivery team, you will ensure that Jacobs achieves complete
client satisfaction to make sure that Jacobs has a thorough understanding of the client’s needs
and is seen as their best advocate for accomplishing their goals. You’ll represent Jacobs in a

• Market Research and Strategic Vision Development for North American Transmission
and Distribution
• Conducts periodic market evaluation to identify and track trends, customer needs, and
the competitive landscape within electric utility transmission & distribution and
connection assets linked to utility scale renewable development sectors.
• Works collaboratively with other growth & sales and operational leaders within the
enterprise to develop financial forecasts based on market trends and client growth
targets.
• Develops and implements strategic business development plans for resources to
support the expansion of Transmission and Distribution focused on consulting and
professional services.
• Identifies and pursues new business opportunities to achieve gross margin and revenue
growth targets.
• Identifies higher levels of client engagement for executive sponsors.
• Identifies and evaluates competition considering geographical, client, and submarket
factors. Client Relationship Development and Management
• Represents Jacobs to the client in a positive, caring, solutions-delivery approach by
engaging the broader firm.
• Develops trust and credibility with clients by engaging in business discussions to
formulate winning and portfolio diversification solutions.
• May serve as the initial primary point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of
satisfaction while addressing issues or concerns promptly.
• Facilitates client meetings and conducts client presentations to showcase services and
capabilities.
• Advocates on client's behalf by actively engaging the firm to address client needs, and
recommend strategic actions to optimize our business development investment and
market share growth. Proposals and Contract Management
• Secures management commitment and influence/attract key staff for pursuits.
• Working with sales and operations, drives quality and differentiating proposal and
interview preparation and contracts for company services.
• Coaches the client service teams through coordinating and facilitating Go/No Go and
Bid/No Bid decisions and helps develop required sales costs aligned with opportunity
potential and return on investment objectives.
• Negotiates and supports contract terms and conditions to ensure acceptable outcomes
for the company.
• Supports and drives cross functional collaboration and team development
• Facilitates the creation, deep, personal, valuable client relationships between Jacobs’
personnel and client personnel (management, technical, functional, delivery) to weave
a fabric of broad-based relationships between our firm and the clients.
• Actively engages with Sales Operations Managers (SOM), Strategic Pursuit Leads (SPL)
and client service teams by leading them through the disciplined sales process
including developing the win strategy, proposal document, interviews, and
presentations.
• Facilitates the engagement of Jacobs in regional programs and committees that align
with the company’s values and interests.
• Mentors and develops Jacobs’ personnel in business development and sales acumen.
• Evaluates external teaming, where necessary, to advance growth objectives.
Networking and Industry Engagement
• Participate in industry conferences, seminars, trade shows, and networking events to
promote company services and stay updated on industry innovations and
advancements.
• Develop and maintains contacts with industry organizations, committees, and forums;
arrange company representation for opportunities to collaborate, participate, and

Here's What You'll Need:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business management or related work experience in lieu
of a degree
• Highly progressive experience in engineering and/or related disciplines associated with the
energy and power market sector.
• Proven track record in business development in the electric utility industry and grid scale
electric transmission and distribution projects in the US.
• Extensive existing industry contacts and the ability to further leverage, build, and maintain
strong relationships with key decision-makers at utilities, renewable generation developers,
independent system operators (ISOs or RTOs), regulatory entities, cooperative and
municipal utilities, and business teaming partners.
• Domain knowledge of the electric sector client’s buying process, identifying and navigating
services agreements and contracts well in advance, respond to RFPs/solicitations, and
prepare successful team engagement when awarded new client work
• Strong business acumen and negotiation experience Ideally
• Technical background/experience in delivering or managing large infrastructure projects or
programs is considered a positive and adds credibility in consulting, engineering,
construction industry service offerings and delivery
