Assist with actuarial analysis and database development for the Property and Casualty unit. The actuarial analyst will also potentially work with NFP’s end-users and key stakeholders to understand their reporting / analytic needs and translate those into requirements. This role will suit someone with a data analytic, computer science or actuarial background who is seeking a future working with data analysis and actuarial science.
The intern will have the opportunity to work with senior actuaries and attend training with interns from other departments. This position reports to the SVP, P&C Actuarial and Analytics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze complex sets of policy and claims data to identify data trends and anomalies.
Perform traditional actuarial reviews for accounts and programs.
Document requirements for data analytic reports and work with NFP’s Business Intelligence team to develop these reports.
Support the analysis and dissemination of up-to-date information.
Provide assistance with ad hoc projects as required.
Keep all information and records confidential.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Fast, efficient data entry skills.
Experience working with computer programming.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with employees in different roles and with varying skill-sets.
Strong attention to detail.
Exceptional written and verbal skills
Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Climate Solutions
Ability to operate desktop computer, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and specialized software applications, in a network environment.
Education and/or Experience:
- Current student pursuing a BA/BS/MS degree in actuarial science, mathematics, computer science, economics or equivalent.
