Job Description: This opportunity is for the dual role of Seapower Section Manager and Quality Engineer within the Engineering Quality organization. Note, the organization is distributed across multiple states to include MA, RI and Florida. There is some flexibility with working from one of our IDS facilities within the Northeast. As a Front Line Leader (FLL), you are an important member of the Engineering Quality Leadership Team. Responsibilities include developing, managing and leading a group of quality engineers, ensuring that each employee has suitable work assignments and the opportunities for growth and advancement. A section manager is instrumental in executing company policies and employee management programs such as the annual performance development program, enhancing the skills and opportunities for each employee and the bench strength of the department by working to develop quality training plans and by providing mentoring and guidance. A section manager is the first level of adjudication of issues arising between employees and programs. A section manager also provides technical oversight and direction to employees in support of their work assignment, as required. As a Quality Engineer you will be the Mission Assurance interface and will drive overall quality performance including continuous improvement and implementation of lean methodologies. You will help to ensure programs meet customer objectives for Mission Assurance, working closely with other Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communication skills. You will work in a results based culture with a strong focus on continuous improvement. You will be required to problem-solve working with a team. Your work will involve planning, coordination, facilitation, analysis, coordination and influencing to achieve continuous improvement and successful program execution, focusing on Quality. You will provide Quality Sciences Subject Matter Expertise for work product and process compliance to meet tactical and strategic objectives. You will work at all levels of the organization to drive root cause and corrective action utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills. Required Skills: Minimum of 10 years experience in the Quality or Systems, Software, or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Existing Secret clearance Desired Skills : Experience with quality systems, ISO/AS 9100, CMMI and/or quality concepts Analytical skills in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification, Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lean M.S. degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics 8+ years’ experience in continuous improvement processes such as Six Sigma and / or Lean Methodologies.
