Job Description: Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Mission Assurance to join our growing team. This position serves as the overall Mission Assurance (MA) lead for the Advanced Technology (AT) and Independent Research and Development (IRAD) Business Areas. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Quality (EQ), the Senior Manager will be responsible for establishing and growing a matrix and direct report team that assures product quality, compliance and effectiveness throughout the life cycle for the AT/IRAD Business Areas. This position focuses on representing the customers’ best interests, and developing solutions to ensure that the AT/IRAD product meets product line, customer / end user requirements and expectations. You will be a member of the EQ leadership team and will help develop strategies and goals for the organization which include the identification of continuous improvement opportunities that drive business results. We are looking for a strong leader with a proven track record of achieving results who will be responsible for the overall program and product quality activities (hardware, software and systems) and success of the Mission Assurance activities supporting multiple AT/IRAD programs. This person leads the interpretation and application of Quality requirements by leveraging their experience in initial planning, design/development, transition to build, production execution, and deployment to fielded product. This position will also own the Mission Assurance oversight of AT/IRAD Early Gates and Capture. This includes responsibility for development of proposals, participation in early proposal gates, member of proposal review teams, the development of customer priorities for new programs, and a member of the Product Line Architecture Board. They will work with the AT/IRAD Directors and program teams during the Strategic Planning, Bid and Proposal (B&P) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) phases to ensure the programs are appropriately staffed with the appropriate Mission Assurance skill sets based on the types of deliverables. As gaps are identified, this role will develop the proper Risks and Opportunities (R&O) along with mitigation plans. They must develop and maintain excellent working relationships within multiple levels of both the functional and customers organizations. This leader will demonstrate passion for growing customer relationships by creating an attention-to-detail culture centered on mistake proofing critical processes and preventing risk. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Forming critical partnerships with the AT and IRAD leadership teams developing MA solutions to enable global growth. The role provides strong coordination between all functions. Briefing all levels of MA, AT, IRAD and customer leadership on MA performance, strategy, and issues. Creating and maintaining strategic relationships with key customers and suppliers that are conducive to capture and execution of programs and can be leveraged to promote business growth. Growing a team of Mission Assurance professionals whose unique skills will be used to execute the business strategy while focusing on transition to production. Developing and executing the MA bid and proposal strategy on all AT/IRAD proposals Leading Quality planning, Earned Value Management and staffing performance to enable disciplined risk and opportunity management and predictable program execution Own the Quality Management System (QMS) for AT/IRAD Drive culture of accountability for results Resolve complex quality issues with AT/IRAD partners Schedule quality program activities and monitor use of program quality funds. Perform cost account management tasks and report earned value. Monitor program assignments of supporting program Quality Engineers (QEs) and ensure all work is performed to allocated budget. Participate in program reviews Actively participate in Risk Management Review Boards and assist in identifying potential risks and developing risk mitigation plans. This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of employment. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in Quality, Applied Sciences or Engineering U.S. Citizenship is required Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in STEM, Business or related field System or Reliability Engineering knowledge and work experience Experience with preparing and presenting senior management level briefings and influencing senior leadership on issues Ability to build and lead highly effective teams, and develop effective relationships across cultures with customers and suppliers In-depth knowledge of MA and related disciplines – systems, software, hardware, manufacturing Expertise in Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action and application of Quality Sciences Experience working within a matrix and Integrated/Cross Product Team environment Ability to take quality sciences and translate into business terms Competitive Proposal and Program Capture experience; Multi-functional / Program experience Control Account Management (CAM)/Earned Value Management System (EVMS) budget management expertise ASQ Certifications (CQM/OE preferred); Six Sigma Black Belt and/or LEAN certified Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems Ability to prioritize work load in a multi-tasking, resource constrained work environment Provide strong business performance leadership by defining responsibilities, motivating employees, and demonstrating effective problem solving Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation & negotiation skills What We Offer: Whether you’re just starting out on your career journey or are an experienced professional, Raytheon offers a robust total rewards package that goes above and beyond with compensation; healthcare, wellness, retirement and work/life benefits; career development and recognition programs.
