Principal Electrical Engineer – Embedded Hardware Systems This Principal Electrical Engineer will work with a variety of digital technologies associated with the design, simulation, integration, and test of SOC based embedded hardware systems. The candidate should have extensive experience designing FPGAs or embedded processor software for hardware applications. The candidate should have successfully implemented designs in fielded systems, and constructed test and integration plans. The candidate must have a proven track record of meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets. Additionally, the candidate should possess demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities will require working within a team of engineers in developing designs based on modeling and simulations. The candidate should expect to work with Systems Engineers and other development team members in translating system performance and operational specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications. The relevant digital electronic system designs include signal processing, command and control, communications, and user interfaces for military applications. Applicant will work as part of a highly motivated team environment, and will be collaborating with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or internal research and development efforts. Our engineers are assigned to a section manager of approximately 20 employees with similar skills. Each section manager is responsible for their members’ performance, career development, and assigning tasks that balance the employees’ interests with current needs of the project teams. Required Skills: 2+ years experience as an FPGA or Embedded Software Project Lead with responsibility for overseeing other engineers on the project 8+ years experience as an FPGA or embedded software developer Experienced in VHDL, System Verilog or OVM Experienced in C or C++ with a good understanding of various real-time OS, board support packages, API calls foreground loop with interrupts and how to architect an overall system A history of successfully fielding and troubleshooting a variety of digital hardware systems including microprocessors and FPGA based circuit boards Experience working in a laboratory environment using logic analyzers and oscilloscopes to test and verify the functions of digital and mixed signal circuits and systems Desired Skills: Embedded system design experience utilizing ARM microcontrollers inside an FPGA along with C code based programming and vendor tools (e.g. Xilinx Zynq & EDK) Required Education (including Major): Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
