S&P Global Head of Program in Virtual, Massachusetts

The Market Intelligence Platform and Channels (PC) organization provides data technology and services supporting acquisition, ingestion, content management, mastering and distribution to power our business line and customer needs. Focus on platform scale to support business lines through a common data lifecycle that accelerates business value. The office strives to provide new insight to our customers through data discovery, research, and integrated access. In certain cases, the office will utilize capital investment on key initiatives to deliver immediate value or remediate high risk areas through structured programs. Maintains a focus on innovation to keep ahead of market trends and disruptive technologies.

Position summary

Will act as head of program for the strategic multi-year initiative to transform MI data-lifecycle technologies and processes to unlock greater business value and efficiencies. The focus of this program and deliverables provides foundational data capabilities that allows for efficient integration, accessibility, and governance of company data assets to accelerate strategic business objectives. This role will coordinate all execution streams as it relates to milestones, financial modeling, and governance at all levels. Works on defining common metrics in support of technology execution delivering business insight and performance analysis. Requires engagement with executive and business leadership to support alignment of data assets and integration initiatives. This candidate has excellent communications skills and can lead conversations in both technical and executive sessions. Must be able to mediate complex discussions that lead to conclusive outcomes and push to common principles, technology, and culture.

Duties & accountabilities

  • Leads all program functions supporting execution and tracking of workstreams and large-scale multi-year efforts related to our enterprise data transformation

  • Develops forward thinking program strategies that incorporate both technical and company value streams

  • Collaborates across the program technology leadership teams to create common measurements as part of the program’s delivery lifecycle, focusing on enhancing business outcomes

  • Manages definition of value driven milestones as it relates to business impacts, working directly with divisional business leads on program value creation

  • Responsible for all program governance layers from individual workstream to Executive SteerCo

  • Represents program at company (divisional), executive and board level discussions

  • Responsible for developing ongoing financial models, which identify business outcome impacts and cost synergies

  • Partners with our finance team to support budgetary requirements across the program

  • Providing visibility of our indirect program cost drivers from across the broader S&P organisation, partnering to substantiate and manage these costs to an efficient state

  • In addition to visibility, analysis, identifying all cost drivers; working across the technology teams to substantiate and manage these costs to an efficient state

  • Creates radical transparency through a high degree of measurement and continuous communications across divisional boundaries

  • Create a culture that positions the organization for operational excellence

  • Manages all global program communications streams to create consistent messaging and flow of information inclusive of executive materials

Education and experience

  • 15+ years of experience in relevant technology disciplines and business functions

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a Business, Financial or Technical field

  • Extensive knowledge of financial products, industry trends, regulatory rules in different jurisdictions and operational practices across a range of asset classes

  • Experience of working with development methodologies like Agile, Kanban

  • Extensive experience of working on mission critical systems

  • Knowledge of Networks, Database, Storage, Management Systems, services frameworks, cloud technologies

Commercial awareness

General understanding of the financial services industry economics, business benefits and commercial realities in delivering solutions from both as a supplier and the customer's perspectives.
