Commonwealth Financial Network Compliance Technical Analyst in Waltham, Massachusetts
As Commonwealth continues to innovate and the number of tools we develop and purchase to support this grows in proportion, it is becoming increasingly important to test our selected tools and vendor products to ensure compliance with internal policy and regulatory focus. The Compliance department is excited to introduce a new team—Internal Compliance Consulting—that will be responsible for this effort. We need you to use your strong creative thinking skills—as well as a high level of attention to detail—to perform ongoing testing and due diligence on vendor applications we use. The right candidate will have broad, demonstrated experience in financial services and a passion for (and a willingness to gain knowledge in) technology systems.
Key responsibilities
Establishing testing plans to administer and document initial and ongoing tests of required integrations or functions of vendor products
Evaluating all existing vendors and applications, in accordance with the risk of the vendor product, and documenting evaluation results
Establishing documentation used to help support institutional knowledge of vendor products and how they operate within our regulatory landscape
Using knowledge of vendor products to investigate reports of “bugs” from business users on our regulatory system integrations, documenting the trail of evidence that leads a user to a particular problem
Interacting with representatives of vendor products throughout testing to address any issues or bugs that arise
Ensuring, through the testing program, compliance with state and federal regulations in order to decrease the firm’s exposure to regulatory and legal risk
Core strengths
Ability to thrive under complete autonomy and finish projects with limited management involvement
Strong written communications skills, with a focus on clear, concise communications that are easily understood regardless of context
Ability to consistently provide a high level of attention to detail
Effective time management and organizational skills
Confidence to challenge the status quo, colleagues, and managers to identify new solutions to existing problems
Strong creative-thinking skills to evaluate problems from different perspectives while keeping an open mind
Additional skills and knowledge
Broad understanding of state and federal regulations (or the ability to learn them quickly) and the ability to quickly understand adaptations to firm policy
Openness to obtaining industry licenses and designations to improve industry knowledge
Demonstrated understanding of technology—specifically Microsoft products, with high focus on Excel and Teams
College degree required
Passionate interest in technology systems
Testing experience in any industry a plus
