This role is part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Customer Channels Group (CCG). Director Business Transformation Governance will drive a scalable and balanced governance model to allow policies, practices and systems for ensuring the CCG business resources are utilized effectively, and the work is aligned with its strategy, objectives and interests, and the internal and external partners of CCG are aligned as closely as possible. The Director will lead the management of CCG idea prioritization process, continuing to drive the operational framework for data-based decision-making, and the sustainment of the end-to-end Governance for CCG portfolio which includes managing all initiatives for all functional areas of CCG. They will also drive the development, implementation and management of the governance structure within the CCG GBT team including tools, templates, and approach.
Mature, improve, and sustain the CCG project prioritization process and end to end portfolio life cycle management across CCG to drive acceptable business case evaluation, capacity planning and secure funding. Ensure that approved programs and projects are aligned with the overall company business goals and objectives.
Lead/facilitate meaningful discussions in various decision-making forums (i.e. cross-functional board, steering committee) to communicate all relevant information, ensuring decisions are made in full knowledge of the critical factors and generate consensus at overall group and division level locally and globally
Develop, implement and manage the governance structure, in partnership with the CCG IT PMO, to include tools, templates, and approach to drive faster more effective execution.
Build constant, reliable, accurate metrics to benchmark, measure, and optimize the CCG life-cycle process maturity and performance.
Continuously evolve the CCG project and program management practices and other related processes to improve execution, quality and efficiency.
Drive capacity planning and resource utilization for the CCG IT, PPI Business System, and GBT teams.
Support CCG Leadership in providing effective oversight and reporting to accurately assess the status of the complete CCG portfolio.
Serves as a highly visible point of contact to all levels of the organization and collaborate with business partners to create scalable governance solutions.
Enhance post-implementation project benefit realization processes to ensure the full value of the change initiative supported by the project or program's outputs are captured and understood across the CCG portfolio.
Assist in planning, development, launch, implementation and sustainment of new lifecycle management tools in partnership with CCG IT PMO (i.e. Workfront to Planview).
Bachelor’s degree required, preferred degree in Engineering, Science, Operations, Supply Chain, Business or others related field. MBA preferred.
Ten (10+) years of experience as a Continuous Improvement ‘Professional’ with a ‘hands-on’ track record of implementing successful Business System based tools, systems, methodologies
Shown experience in leading, mentoring and coaching global teams of project professionals
Validated ‘hands-on’ experience executing successful programs/projects in areas of shared service and operations.
Experience working in a highly matrixed organization, maintaining alignment between functions
Ability to function in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities simultaneously
Proven track record of teamwork, collaboration and inclusion, and the ability to develop strong business relationships across functions and geographies. Strong passion for building and sustaining governance across geographies, divisions, functions, and groups where appropriate to align priorities and increase scale and speed to meet business objectives.
Strong operational excellence experience in customer-centric organization with strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed, up to 25% if needed.
Expertise through certification in one or more relevant areas (i.e. LSS GB/BB, Agile, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, PMP, Prince2)
Formal Change Leadership expertise preferred.
