National Grid Domain Architect - Customer Experience in Waltham, Massachusetts

Job Purpose

The Domain Architect will be a member of the Enterprise Architecture team providing technical guidance and expertise to a Customer Experience organization through the development of IT strategies and architectures.

Must have prior AMI program delivery experience.

Key Accountabilities
  • Works with Business Unit CIO and Key Business Stakeholders to understand the Business Strategy and Plan, supporting Business Architecture, and required capabilities for enabling business needs. Maintains current and future state business capability and application models

  • Establishes the value streams in scope for the program, and for each value stream creates a current state view of value stream, capabilities, master data, personas, applications, and key data flows. Create iterations of this same view for key transition states with dependencies within and outside of the program, setting the program vision as an enabler of program delivery.

  • Provides guidance to an extended project team related to the solution architecture and technical design. Assists and advises project teams in the configuration, testing, implementation and support of technical solutions

  • Authors sizing and detailed estimates for complex new project requests. Participates in the creation of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models for large and complex projects. Maintains estimate artifacts for the solution designs throughout the project lifecycle

  • Has an understanding of the end to end business application processes and provides input into application roadmaps including recommendations of IT driven projects

  • Collaborates within he wider EA organization to align to related technical architecture, information architecture, and security architecture strategies, standards, patterns, and policy.

  • Be capable of communication with a wide audience, including senior stakeholders and a credible performer in senior executive forums.

  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills covering colleagues, partners/vendors and project sponsors.

  • Current State Architectural Definition in alignment to program scope: value streams, business capabilities, master data, personas, applications, and key data flows.

  • Iterations of the Architectural Definition showing transitions states of each value stream over the course of the program lifecycle: value streams, business capabilities, master data, personas, applications, and key data flows.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Be capable of communication with a wide audience, including senior stakeholders and a credible performer in senior executive forums.

  • Excellent team leadership skills, with experience of working in and leading global teams with matrix reporting and deliverables.

  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills covering colleagues, partners/vendors and project sponsors.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (required).

  • Experience with the Salesforce ecosystem is a must.

  • Deep Understanding of Customer web experiences, mobile experiences, and call center agent experiences.

  • Experience in developing architecture patterns with both custom and COTS applications;

  • Understands limitations and advantages of cloud environment.

  • Develop understanding of key operations and data flows within utility industry

  • Strong technical skills around vendor product selection, software and technology analysis, business analytics, service-oriented architecture and convergence of cross utility functions.

  • Expertise in one or more of the TOGAF (or equivalent framework) architectural domains in business, application, data, technology; have used architecture tools such as Troux, Alfabet, Sparx or equivalent
