We are searching for a Lead Architect – Data Platforms who is passionate about technology and healthcare to build a data architecture and a data lake to synthesize data sets from multiple sources and for different use cases. This includes everything from product analytics to higher order analysis across multiple products and data sets. In addition, 3rd party data may be introduced to enrich the data lake and support development of new products and features including those driven by machine learning. You will be expected work multiple stakeholders and relevant support groups such as legal, compliance, and development operations to establish requirements, policies and specifications. You will be responsible for driving the overall effort including leading the architecture design and implementation. Key issues to address are access management, cataloging, versioning, ETL, logging, and auditing as well as the infrastructure necessary to support various analytics and AI use cases. You should be willing to take on challenges of unknown dimensions, and work hand in hand with clinicians, customers, and developers. You will need to have very strong technical skills in data sciences and a proven ability to deliver products to the market.
Reporting into the Wolters Kluwer Health CTO team, this role is crucial to the continued growth and evolution of one of the leading global healthcare technology companies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the effort to streamline storage, access, and analytics across Wolters Kluwer Health data assets
Work Data Scientists and Business Intelligence experts to design and build massive reservoirs for big data
Design, develop, and drive implementation of the architecture necessary to support multiple use cases for data access, synthesis, and analysis while addressing issues such as access controls, cataloging, versioning, logging, and auditing.
Engage with stakeholders and relevant support groups such as legal, compliance, and devops to establish requirements, policies, and specifications
Work with BUs to establish ETL pipelines and supporting technologies for various analysis use cases
Evaluate technologies to support the proposed architecture and stay current on backend technologies to make recommendations on those that best serve proposed use cases
Establish and execute data curation policies and procedures
Document architecture, policies, procedures
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
10+ years work experience relevant to this position
Working experience on Designing, development and tuning of enterprise database environments
Experience with multiple data backend technologies such as key-value stores, big data repositories, relational, graph, and no-sql databases and more.
Familiarity with big data repositories and enterprise solutions such as Redshift, Snowflake, and BigQuery
Experience with cloud technologies and deployments
Experience with data modeling and ETL tools
Expert in SQL with abilities to optimize queries as well as tune database performance
Significant software engineering skills
Demonstrated ability to function within a team of multiple disciplines
The following is highly desired, but not required:
Familiarity with shell scripting
Experience with Health data specifications such as HL7 and FHIR
Experience in healthcare
Experience or understanding of health terminologies such as SNOMED, ICD-10, LOINC, and CPT
Strong communication skills and the ability to relay and simplify complex concepts
Up to 5% travel might be needed
