Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Manager, IT Change Management & Communications in Waltham, Massachusetts

What will you do?

You will lead change management and communications for the IT Shared Services teams that provide IT services across the Thermo Fisher enterprise. You will develop a team of professionals as they lead projects for various initiatives, ensuring consistency, quality and appropriate prioritization. You will also handle the communications needs of the Corporate Solutions & Integrations (CSI) team within IT, playing a meaningful role in crafting internal and executive messaging and implementing customized multi-channel communication strategies that build employee engagement and show measurable results.

Reporting to the Senior Director, IT Change Management & Communications, the ideal candidate is knowledgeable about change management methodologies, well-rounded in all communication methods and comfortable running multiple projects simultaneously. In addition, you will have experience developing positive relationships with executives, leading change management projects for IT systems/tools, and setting appropriate expectations for how to use it.

  • Mentor project teams on communications and change management approaches and methodologies

  • Support the design, development and delivery of change management and comms projects consistently across the IT team.

  • Lead a team to ensure efficiency, productivity and consistency, while building comradery

  • Lead targeted internal communications strategies aligned to key business areas to build employee engagement.

  • Lead organizational change initiatives including completing change management assessments as needed (conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness, identify key stakeholders, etc.)

  • Write and edit organizational announcements, messages, blogs, scripts or other communication content as needed, ensuring appropriate corporate processes are followed.

  • Create compelling visual content for town hall presentations, manager communication decks, intranet, videos, newsletters and other forums.

  • Develop CSI intranet and Yammer strategy to improve awareness and engagement.

  • Bring creative ideas using current trends, gamification or other strategies to the business to drive communications and engagement.

  • Lead measurement systems to gauge communications effectiveness and adapt plans and tactics as needed.

  • Act as a communications advisor, partner and mentor to internal customers and the CSI leadership team to help them meet their goals.

How you will get here?

  • Minimum 7 – 10 years progressive experience in corporate or employee communications and change management

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, creative writing, liberal arts, marketing or similar subject area.

  • Experience working within or partnering with an IT or technology department.

  • Strong writer, editor and communicator.

  • Excellent PowerPoint and MS Office skill; experience with MS Modern SharePoint a plus.

  • Familiarity with basic design and design concepts.

  • Strong storytelling skills and ability to articulate technical messages to a variety of audiences

  • Ability to navigate a fast paced and highly matrixed organization.

  • Skilled in influencing and facilitating collaboration and alignment between customers, including senior leaders

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools; related certification or designation desired

  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts

  • High-energy, self-directed and goal-oriented

  • Experience with internal social media and intranet content development platforms.

  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal and to establish and maintain strong relationships

  • Flexible and adaptable; comfortable working in ambiguous situations

  • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere

  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization

  • Intuition for business and understanding of organizational issues and challenges

  • Sense of humor, resourceful, flexible, resilient, technology savvy and high comfort level with change.

  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically, as needed.
