Summary

This position is located in Cape Cod National Seashore, in the Administration Division.

Serves as the Information Technology (IT) professional and principal advisor and expert to the park's management and staff in managing, administering, developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems and services.

Responsibilities
  • End user support, systems analysis, project management, network management and administration.
  • Management of complex, geographically dispersed network of file servers, routers, workstations, and peripherals.
  • Provides end user support to approximately 150 staff members in the height of summer operations.
  • Responsible for maintiaing Cisco VOIP phone system.
  • In-depth analysis and evaluation fo complex factors dealing with IT networks, systems, databases, and associated equipment and software involving different and unrelated processes and methods.
Travel Required

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position on an occasional basis. Travel within the park to different work sites will be required.

Experience - Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate, demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. * Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. * Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. * Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. * Problem Solving - Identifies problems: determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Such experience is gained in the field of IT and through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include proficiency developing and maintaining IT systems to track and triage service requests and generating real-time metrics; experience planning, designing, developing, testing, and updating new or existing software applications and databases; developing and maintaining IT-related documentation and support; AND have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication and Problem Solving.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".

Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.

Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.

You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Work is primarily sedentary. Requires some walking and standing. Some work may require lifting computer equipment and peripheral devices. Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety procedures.

The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
