Project Manager – Club Deployments
The Project Manager manages projects within the framework of the BJ’s Project Lifecycle (PLC) methodology, while working through impacts of scope, quality, schedule, cost and budget. Primary responsibilities include initialization and management of key IT portfolio projects. The Project Manager must establish, build and maintain project plans that establish actual and forecasted activities and timelines, proactively manage deviations, identify and manage project risks, ensure the project team is properly defined and staffed, and that the appropriate internal and external services are obtained to meet the objectives of the project. The Project Manager acts as the liaison among the project’s stakeholders and ensures that timely communications are occurring throughout the project’s lifecycle. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that projects comply with all PLC, Change Management, and Regulatory requirements. The Project Manager will provide support to the BJ’s Program Management Office operation and will perform other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned.
The Project Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day project activities, including but not limited to:
Balancing and managing scope, time and resources for a multi-disciplined project team to achieve desired results
Managing project budgets and recommending subsequent budget changes where appropriate
Tracking project milestones, deliverables, and managing changes in project scope
Devising contingency and mitigation plans
Developing and preparing project status reports and corresponding presentations
Developing and maintaining demand and resource capacity models
Analyzing results, troubleshooting problem areas, and making recommendations
Identifying multiple solution approaches for solving business need and selecting the optimal approach
Providing impact analysis and alternatives to management
Managing and actively drive resolution of complex project issues
Ensuring project remains aligned with the defined objectives as well as organizational, business and technology strategy
Preparing initial analysis and facilitation approach for capturing small to medium scale basic requirements
Participating in and co-facilitating meetings with business partners to understand objectives, business process impact and detailed systems requirements
Participating in internal project teams to analyze features, capabilities and interfaces that are to be supported
Responding to customer and business partner requests for service
Preparing and delivering effective, timely and meaningful communications (written and verbal) throughout the project lifecycle
Settings and continually managing project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
Keeping pace with emerging project and portfolio management trends and best practices
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline
5+ years as a Project Management Professional
Demonstrated experience leading/managing technology projects that involve deployment of new systems and processes across a geographically dispersed locations (i.e. retail chain)
Experience working with or within a Program Management Office operating model
Requires basic knowledge of industry trends
PMP Certification desirable
