Middlesex Savings Bank Director IT Security in Westborough, Massachusetts

Directs the daily management and operational oversight of the IT & cyber security solutions through direct management of the department's security analysts, managed security service providers (MSSP), and vendors. This includes the selection of appropriate security solutions and security architecture capable of achieving higher levels of IT security controls.

Leads, maintains and continuously evolves the Banks cyber security and IT governance framework and controls. This involves direct ownership of IT security solutions, standards & procedures, and technical controls that align with the Bank’s IT and Information Security program and policies.

Additionally, the Director IT Security collaborates with peers in IT, Information Security, Executive Management, and business units and recommends IT security best practices. Performs any function, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.

  • Manage the activities of Security Operations staff. Conduct semiannual performance evaluations; provide ongoing counsel, training, security awareness, development and motivation. Participate in the hiring, salary, promotion and termination recommendation process.

  • Responsible for the management and evolution of the Banks Security Operations Center (SOC) function. Drive the SOC’s ability to continuously monitor and improve the Banks security posture while preventing, detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents and threat intelligence.

  • Define cyber security strategy and road map. Participates in the planning and design of the Bank’s security architecture in consultation with CTO, IT management and the Information Security Officer (ISO).

  • Maintain & evolve Security Operations metrics that represent the security state of Bank systems and applications. Communicate/present the Banks security state to executive and Board level committees. Assume Chair role for the monthly IT Security Meeting.

  • Manages the creation and ongoing maintenance of Security Operations related documentation (standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures) under the direction of CTO and ISO, where appropriate.

  • Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT & cyber security landscape including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

  • Participate in the annual budgeting process. Forecast and recommend capital purchases and staffing requirements.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines and in conformance with established Bank policies, procedures and objectives.

  • Represents the Bank through participation in various community and industry related activities. Actively promotes interest in the Bank.

  • Perform related and unrelated duties as may be required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology. Advance degree preferred.

  • Minimum eight to ten years’ experience managing a security infrastructure and applications including firewalls, intrusion prevention, endpoint & application management, and systems.

  • Minimum five years demonstrated experience with and knowledge of client/server, private, public, and hybrid cloud architecture and security.

  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of cloud security

  • Excellent leadership, mentorship, negotiation, and organization change management skills.

  • Solid communication skills in articulating strategies and plans to team members and executive management (as necessary) as well as the ability to work effectively with internal team members, business line owners and vendors.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and problem solving abilities to identify and prioritize critical path issues and risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must have schedule flexibility and be able to work extended hours and weekends.
