The Manager, Application Development & Delivery at SurePayroll provides strategic direction, leadership, and motivation to Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Business Analysts across multiple Agile teams. This position evaluates and manages the effectiveness of Agile processes, which exist to ensure successful delivery of key or highly visible internal and customer-impacting projects and initiatives. The Manager interfaces with internal teams and other business stakeholders to ensure project objectives, scope, timelines, expectations, and progress are clearly aligned, well-defined, and communicated.
Optimize Agile team performance by assigning projects based on analysis of WIP, upcoming pipeline, prioritization of new projects and BAU, and feature requirements. Facilitate regular cadence of conversation between Agile team Product Owners and project stakeholder to define and ensure alignment of expectations.
Ensure best-practice of Agile processes, activities, and standards (scrum ceremonies, delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) are effectively established, and executed. Evaluate via periodic participation in meetings and review of work in progress. Provide feedback and direction as necessary.
Ensure compliance with Agile methodology, by confirming the established Definition of Ready criteria for all user stories are met by the Product Owners before the start of a sprint, and the established Definition of Done criteria for all user stories are met by the Scrum Masters at the end of the sprint.
Ensure that Product Owners communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers to identify product improvements, analyze user needs, define project scope, document features and high level functional requirements.
Ensure that Product Owners have a clearly defined project scope and are effectively managing the prioritization and sequencing of the product backlog for their assigned Agile teams based on resource availability, business value, and ROI.
Ensure that Product Owners provide strategic direction that enables Agile teams to deliver work that successfully incorporates the Product Management perspective.
Ensure Scrum Masters and Product Owners are maintaining appropriate and accurate data, schedules, records, plans, and dashboards for Agile team and business stakeholder reference within designated systems
Ensure that all Agile teams are conducting product/feature demos for appropriate stakeholders at end of every sprint.
Responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and performance management of direct reports including regular and contract employees, as well as day to day oversight and management.
Responsible for the execution of key HR programs and activities related to performance, talent, and salary assessment, goal setting, training and career development, scheduling and exception time approval, etc.
Drive improvement of technical business processes by leveraging existing IT capabilities in the areas of application development and delivery, identifying gaps, researching best practices and new solutions, and making strategic recommendations for implementation and training according to business need.
Establish, manage, and leverage working relationships among Agile teams and key stakeholders including, but not limited to, executive management, business management, project sponsors, vendors.
Manage all aspects of communication related to the delivery of technology solutions throughout the organization including IT performance metrics, monthly status reporting, and quarterly resource planning review. Escalate issues, present options for resolution, and follow through to ensure barriers to project completion are removed.
Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or closely related discipline - Preferred
6 years of experience in an Agile environment as an Application Development Manager (or similar role), including management of direct reports and Agile teams.
