This position is for an experienced Security Services professional. Processes and maintains security information, data, and documents. Responsible for investigation of security violations resulting recommendations for preventive actions.
Establishes, documents, implements. and monitors the Information System (IS) Security Program. System Security Plans (SSP) and related procedures for the facility.
Authors and maintains documentation supporting the Assessment & Authorization (A&A) of assigned systems in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Performs security control assessments as part of the Continuous Monitoring Plan.
Oversees configuration management of assigned systems and validates audits are performed by the ISSO to ensure the security posture integrity.
Conducts periodic hardware and software inventory assessments. Identifies system security control shortcomings and serves as lead for remediating deficiencies.
Investigates security incidents such as data spills. data integrity and malicious events.
Provides security education training to employees.
Other duties as required
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Must be DoD 8570/8140 IAT/M III compliant or obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
Technical knowledge that will assist in rulings, approvals, interpretations, and acceptable deviations from regulations for IS compliance with various government agencies & regulations (RMF, STIGs – ICD 503, associated NIST publications) for a variety of Operating Systems and components .
Ensuring compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) policies, concepts, and measures for currently accredited and new Information Systems. (this one will encompass a lot of the items below marked with an *)
- Evaluate potential IA security risks through Continuous Monitoring
- Ensuring configuration management (CM) for IS software, hardware and firmware is maintained and documented.
- Perform antivirus updates, SW patch installation, and conduct security self-reviews
Working knowledge of the eMASS application
Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows (Key), Linux, Solaris, CISCO )
Auditing the security aspects and assess the security related factors of various operating systems (Windows, Linux and UNIX).
High level of personal motivation and initiative to learn and acquire new skills, and adapt seamlessly to an ever-changing security environment.
Possess good written, verbal, listening and presentation skills
Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time accordingly.
