RedHat Technical Writer in Westford, Massachusetts
The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for a Technical Writer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will be the voice of Red Hat's technical authority, creating content that helps customers achieve their business and technical goals with Red Hat solutions. You’ll produce content around Red Hat Virtualization and OpenShift Container Platform on Red Hat Virtualization to help customers install, configure, monitor, maintain, develop on, and understand how it integrates with other Red Hat technologies.You will collaborate with content strategists, product managers, product engineers, support engineers, and other stakeholders to understand the customer's perspective and create effective content solutions.
Primary job responsibilities
Work closely with content strategists, engineering project teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality content for Red Hat’s solutions
Engage and collaborate with customer feedback programs to address content gaps, respond to direct customer feedback, and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience
Keep up to date with changes in our offerings, customer use cases, and support issues
Master the use of our internal documentation toolchain, including the publishing platform and issue-tracking tools
Collaborate with other writers on the team and other writing groups working on related products
Effectively manage documentation projects and deliver effective customer-focused documentation
Devote time to research, ask questions, and understand the product
Support Red Hat initiatives for continuous improvement of our documentation
5-7 years of enterprise-level technical writing experience
Familiarity with the software development life cycle
Experience managing the documentation development life cycle
Ability to read, write, and compile technical documents, including feature descriptions, customer use cases, and release notes
Experience writing structured, topic-based documentation
Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, proactively engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments
Familiarity with using the Linux command line; experience using the command line is a big plus
Familiarity with version control systems; experience and comfort with Git is a big plus
Familiarity with and knowledge of one or more of Red Hat’s offerings
The following are considered a plus:
Experience using agile for project management
Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence
Experience with virtualization or containers
