Job Summary

The CRL organization is looking for an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented leader to join our Architecture team within IT. In this role, the Director, Enterprise Architecture will be responsible for collaborating with technology and business stakeholders to create a technical architecture vision and strategy within the corporate domain that enables business strategy. He/she will partner with the business and IT leaders to ensure the architecture roadmaps continually align with business objectives and outcomes. Working closely with other architects and IT service areas, they should work collaboratively to deliver solutions that are efficient, high quality and at the best possible cost. Through excellence in delivery, they will help to achieve and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:• Create an architecture vision and strategy that is aligned with business objectives and outcomes.• Contribute towards building an EA practice within CRL.• Provide technical and architecture thought leadership for scientific applications.• Ensure adherence to CRL standards and compliance with regulatory bodies are maintained (FDA, ISO, PCI, SOX, HIPPA, US, EU).• Contribute to building a high-performance agile architecture team.• Lead architecture reviews of technology initiatives• Develop in-depth knowledge of strategic, tactical and operational business requirement• Investigate and understand industry trends and emerging technologies, and plan for adoption where appropriate• Develop and maintain a current/future state architecture that achieves business goals in a customer-focused manner.• Demonstrate strong knowledge of current digital trends, disruptive forces, and modern technology concepts and expertise in cloud architectures and concepts within the life sciences industry• Demonstrate leadership and influence skills across all organizational levels and function• Proven track record leading highly effective teams in strategic planning, enterprise and systems architectures and design/development of strategic business solutions• Realize reduction and simplification of licensing and tooling through standardization and effective guidance of purchasing as part of IT projects and capital committee structures

Job Qualifications

• Ability to collaborate with Business Executives, Architecture, Delivery & Product teams to define & execute on the architectural strategy for CRL including technical roadmaps for multiple domains• Works with Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack and ensures building of reusable & scalable components.• Looks for better ways of solving technical problems and designing solutions, not afraid to challenge the status quo.• Identify the best solutions to solve stated business problems and deliver solution options that satisfy business requirements; Including identification, analysis, selection and high-level design.• Thought partners with the Product owner(s) in story creation and acceptance criteria and communicate trade-offs effectively with Designers/Developers.• Create solution blueprints by consulting with the Product owner and key IT Stakeholders.• Drive vendor selection by working with procurement and project team; Run proof of concepts as necessary.• Participate in resolving cross-functional and cross-system design issues.• Assist in creating architecture design patterns, related processes and templates and an EA practice in CRL.• Lead highly effective teams in strategic planning, enterprise and systems architectures and design/development of strategic business solutions.• Participate in continuous improvement of the Architecture practice.• Adhere to pertinent regulatory requirements and to company policies, practices and procedures.• Demonstrate ability to conceptualize and develop alternative solution approaches, articulating the benefits and tradeoffs of each solution• Ability to balance high-level identification of innovation opportunities with oversight of technical development processes• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.Experience: 10+ years leadership experience, in a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or highly regulated organization, architecting and designing technology solutions in an innovative and realistic manner that focuses on delivery and business outcomes.Have an Architect’s certification (AWS, Azure, Google, Open Group TOGAF 9, CISSP).Experience using and implementing EAM tools

Solid understanding and demonstrated ability for the following:• Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills at all levels• Effectively communicate and make technical information consumable to large, multi-national audiences• Have proven emotional intelligence (EQ) and relationship building skills• Be able to conceptualize and develop impartial alternative solution approaches, articulating the benefits and tradeoffs of each• Customer consulting skills• Experience building Technology roadmaps• Expert within the technical domain who can make architecture decision at the team and product level• Agile development experience
