AeroVironment Enterprise Architect, Principal in Wilmington, Massachusetts
The Enterprise Architect, Principal (EA) is responsible for strategic alignment of technology with business vision to enable desired outcomes. This individual identifies and assesses the current state of the technology, systems and processes and provides recommendations, strategies, and roadmaps to move the company toward an optimized target state that improves business capabilities, globally scales and drives innovation! The incumbent will collaborate with Solution Architects to provide guidance that ensures technology products are designed to support the evolution of business objectives. The EA provides technical governance for certain overarching technical constructs, such as software and security practices in hybrid environments (prem and cloud). The EA fosters collaboration across the various business & technology organizations and develops cross-organizational relationships with business and technology partners to influence the enterprise-wide architecture.
Review, understand and document / diagram current technology stack, integrations, code practices, and environment gaps and opportunities
Develop scalable, modern and updated architectural roadmaps to support AV’s growth globally
Educate, evangelize the concepts of architecture, modern coding practices, Big Data, and others to the DBT department.
Document legacy to modern path forward, and middleware opportunities to integrate as well as scale.
Work closely with all aspects of Information Technology to look for changes to current designs, to allow for scale, cyber security, GDPR, ITAR, and DoD based regulation support while scaling.
Provide baseline workflows for better capital/development cost estimates of architectural and technical solutions
Work closely with IT, program management, product managers, and marketing to develop cohesive, logical, and user-friendly systems that optimize the business and/or maximize sales
Develop and promote the enterprise architecture process, ensuring that it is scalable and modular; educate and train cross-functional team as necessary
Work closely with IT and business leadership to manage the enterprise with synchronized and scalable sales, marketing, and processing portals that use common logic and user interfaces for customer, vendor, and internal-facing applications
Institute best practices and processes which can be replicated across all categories
Lead change with cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines
Frequently interacts with customers and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company
When necessary, prove technology solutions through POCs.
Ensure solutions are designed for high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, supportability and deploy-ability, in accordance with the level of risk the business is willing to accept.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
15+ years’ experience designing, developing, implementing enterprise scale technology solutions
8+ years’ experience defining and implementing strategies under a CIO or technical leader
Demonstrated expert in one or more architecture domains: application, security, data, integration, infrastructure
10+ years of organizational savviness, evangelization of technology roadmaps to the executive teams; skilled strategist and planner
10+ years of experience conducting technology evaluations, proof of concepts, prototyping
15+ years of experience in system integration patterns and best practices, use of cloud and middleware solutions, REST and API integrations, and AI / Data Analytics platforms.
10+ years of experience in leading architectural reviews and technology & data governance across teams, and streamlining of legacy to SaaS based solutions
Experience with Azure DevOps, App Insights, Jira, Ansible, Service Fabric, Kubernetes, Git, and others.
In-depth experience with Cloud services - Amazon Web Services/Microsoft Azure/Google Cloud Platform solutions, architecture, related technologies, and their interdependencies.
IT service availability and uptime experience/knowledge and understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes.
Strong communication skills: oral presentations, writing, negotiation, active listening, influencing positive team dynamics.
Collaborating with Solution Architects, information security, business process architects, product owners, and business strategists to design and communicate an innovative, secure, and pragmatic architecture that enables continuous delivery of business value
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect and CISSP certifications highly desirable
Technical knowledge of MS Active Directory, Identify Mgt, Authorization / Authentication architecture a plus
Experience with CMMC, GDPR and CCPA governance standards highly desirable
Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills and able to clearly communicate with a diversified audience
Demonstrates familiarity with engineering development processes and operations qualification processes.
Demonstrates skill and competency in making decisions that have an impact on program costs and schedule
Effectively manages multiple efforts simultaneously and give direction to the program team
Works independently with minimal supervision and completes assigned tasks within program schedule and budget
Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
