Symbotic Industrial Controls Engineer in Wilmington, Massachusetts
The Industrial Controls and Robotics organization is responsible for providing the appropriate engineering resources, methods, tools and processes to enable the business to meet its objectives. The organization provides a cross-product capability, building a base of cross-product solutions and resources to support a product line business model. The business operates in a matrix fashion in which team members are allocated to scrum teams on a need by need basis as per the business activities.
Gather information, perform root cause analysis where necessary to understand technical problems and validate requirements and problem understanding with internal and external stakeholders;
Generate new control system functionality and modify existing solutions, which can include industrial robot logic, PLC logic, and user interfaces;
Determine test strategies and create test plans using a variety of test vehicles (e.g. simulators, factory test beds, in-service monitoring);
Execute test plans and produce test reports to document results and demonstrate compliance against requirements;
Contribute to improvement initiatives and, in some cases, be the lead for these initiatives (e.g. changes in existing processes, methods and tools).
2-5+ years of experience with PLC programming (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider etc.);
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related field
Experience with the IEC 61131-3 programming languages, especially Ladder Logic, sequential function chart and structured text;
Knowledge of the PackML and S88 standards;
Experience with user interfaces (e.g. FactoryTalk View, WinCC);
Experience with version control tools (e.g. Asset Centre, Application Code Manager, Git);
Knowledge of industrial networking (e.g. Ethernet IP, DeviceNet);
Demonstrated success at developing industrial robot cell solutions from requirements to commercialization.
Sense of organization, self-reliance and resourcefulness;
Ability to analyze and solve problems;
Able to elaborate and define task content from a well-defined objective.
100% travel is required.
