Systems & Technology Research Embedded Systems Software Engineer in Woburn, Massachusetts
STR is seeking a software engineer to support embedded system development for a variety of sensor system domains including space, airborne, and undersea sensor development. The perfect candidate will have experience implementing embedded signal processing systems for military applications, a background in relevant engineering disciplines (signal processing, aerospace, undersea, command and control), and be proficient at programming in at least one (preferably more than one) high-level languages (e.g. C/C++, Python) and have a strong understanding of embedded system development challenges. We expect the software systems we develop and deliver to meet standards of quality, maintainability, and reuse. Therefore, experience with sound software engineering principles, as well as software unit test tools and methodologies are valuable.
STR is hiring a Software Engineer to work in a small team on tasks including software design, development, unit and integration testing and documentation for a variety of embedded sensor applications. The Software Engineer will develop software with an eye toward architectural alignment of capabilities and will follow good coding hygiene by performing design and code reviews. This position will offer the opportunity for technical leadership, project planning, design analysis, software development, software testing, and fielding of capabilities. The role will require the engineer to interpret and understand requirements as they relate to the capabilities we deliver. This position is within the System Development Division group, which works across space, airborne, and undersea sensor systems and the C2 capabilities that enable them.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field,
Embedded Software development in C/C++
Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs)/Digital to Analog Converters (DACs)
Direct Memory Access (DMA) Engines
Processor architectures (ARM, PowerPC, x86)
Low level Software Development such as
Processor/Board Support Packages (PSP/BSP)
Operating System Development
PCI Express(PCIe), Ethernet, SPI, CAN Bus
ARINC 429, ARINC 664, ARINC 825, J1939
UART (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485)
Configuration/Change Management Systems
Software Requirements Creation/Management
Software Verification and Validation
Hardware/Software Integration & Debug using integrated development environments (IDE)
Ability to obtain a Security clearance
Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering tools and methodologies (NoMagic/Cameo, SysML, UML, DoDAF, Matlab)
Demonstrated expertise in integration of capabilities spanning disparate development platforms and languages
Experience with git/Gitlab, Confluence, Jira
Experience deploying software on DoD program-of-record systems
Prior participation in an open source community
Experience with Agile lifecycle methodologies and tools and/or a DevSecOps environment
