Systems & Technology Research Senior Software Engineer - Space Systems in Woburn, Massachusetts
Space Command and Control (C2) program(s) are intended to consolidate tactical level command and control capabilities for Department of Defense space assets through use of a more streamlined operator workflow, to identify and monitor threats to U.S. space assets, and execute the appropriate courses of action. These programs will utilize agile development, leveraging COTS technologies to more quickly and responsively provide capability to the operators and decision makers.
STR is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to support software development, test, integration, and deployment activities for Space C2 programs. The software engineer will work in an agile development team environment and work closely with government stakeholders, software users, and software vendors to deliver advanced C2 and Common Operation Picture capabilities. This position will offer the opportunity to perform multiple activities to include technical leadership, project planning, project initiation, design analyses, software development, and software testing, with the objective of transition of capability in a DevSecOps infrastructure, end user training, sustainment and fielding of capabilities in support of emerging end user requirements. The role will include the need to understand end user needs and requirements as they relate to the capabilities we deliver. Additional activities include working with microservice design, cybersecurity platforms, and documentation support. This position is within the System Development Division group, which works across such diverse areas as space, airborne, and undersea sensor systems and the C2 capabilities that enable them.
Who You Are:
BS in Computer Science or related technical field
Previous experience with command and control capability development in a relevant tactical DoD domain
Demonstrated expertise in integration of capabilities spanning disparate development platforms and languages in a DevSecOps infrastrcuture
Experience with integration of complex software systems and formal software documentation
Ability to synthesize software solutions integrating capabilities from multiple COTS and Developmental software sources
A demonstrated ability to quickly adopt new languages, libraries, and technologies
Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
MS in Computer Science or related technical field
Experience in delivering command and control capability in a DevSecOps environment in the space domain
Demonstrated experience in more than one of the languages listed above
Experience with any/all of the following:
Container/virtualization tools such as Docker
DevOps or CI/CD tools such as Gitlab
Agile software lifecycle methodologies and tools
Working-level knowledge of any/all of the following:
o DoD Open Mission System Standards
