About the Job
The Systems Administrator II is responsible for the installation, support, and management of Microsoft Windows, E-mail, and VMware Servers supporting the clinical, financial and other business units across Lahey Health System. The Systems Administrator II will act as a hands-on contributor, subject matter expert and resident consultant for a broad range of Windows Server, e-mail, and VMware technologies, processes, and best practices including but not limited to Windows recovery, patching, security, Service Level Agreements, systems interoperability, server virtualization (VMWare), high availability, business continuity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
E-mail Services configuration and maintenance
Microsoft Active Directory Services
Technical Lead for Server Team Projects
Proactively manage and maintain core Windows and VMware systems
Backup and Recovery, maintain process standards
Maintain anti-virus Management services for Windows Servers
Maintain Patching environment for Windows Servers and VMware hosts
DNS and DHCP administration
Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation
Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new technologies
Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
Create system specifications for new installs and upgrades
Server monitoring and alerting
Participate in Server Team on-call rotation
Other duties as assigned
- 4 year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields desirable.
5 - 10 years of IT experience in an production environment
Experience in a health care provider environment desirable.
Hands on experience with Windows Server administration
Hands on experience with VMWare vCenter administration
Microsoft Active Directory configuration and administration
E-mail configuration and management desirable
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 - 2012 R2 experience
VMware ESXi 5.1 – 6.0
Scripting / Task automation. PowerShell experience a plus
Solid project management and implementation experience.
Operating System hardening, patching and remediation
Performance tuning, capacity management, and server monitoring
DNS and DHCP administration
Working knowledge of SAN, NAS, DAS storage technologies
Basic networking experience; routing, switches, and common IP port usage
Installation and configuration of server hardware
Excellent leadership, management, analytical, problem solving
Experience working with a variety of vendors and implementing and supporting multiple products.
Proven leadership abilities and comprehensive knowledge of healthcare information system
