Systems & Technology Research Systems Engineer (Integration and Test) in Woburn, Massachusetts
STR is hiring a System Integration & Test (I&T) Engineer in our Woburn, MA office (other locations: Dayton, OH & Arlington, VA) to work across a broad portfolio of DoD mission areas. The I&T Engineer should have experience performing system level integration and test of software and/or hardware components, verifying technical requirements as well as program schedule and cost objectives. The I&T Engineer should have familiarity with automated test tools and techniques, writing and executing test plans, and contributing to system design packages by establishing requirements and design elements for the purposes of testing.
This position offers the opportunity to work with leading domain experts in sensors development, data analytics and cyber security. The I&T Engineer will be expected to work closely with development teams to establish and implement a test approach appropriate for program objectives. Experience with the Agile development process and associated tools is desired. This position is well suited for an engineer who has experience building DoD systems and is interested in hands on testing and fielding of novel systems developed by STR. Both hardware and software-centric candidates are encouraged to apply, to meet comprehensive system testing needs.
STR is adopting Digital Engineering (DE) tools and techniques, including the integration of verification aspects of design as part of a comprehensive Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach. Candidates will be expected to work with Systems Engineers to integrate I&T processes & artifacts into the DE workflow for programs, using MBSE tools to capture those aspects of the design related to verification, with traceability to external tools as required.
Responsibilities will include:
Working closely with domain experts, development teams and Systems Engineers to define automated test designs
Hands on integration work, ensuring that software and/or hardware components are integrated into the system according to spec
Participation in the Agile development process, with a focus on developing system tests
Documenting and executing test plans
Capturing and communicating test results and metrics
Required Skills and Experience:
Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
Minimum of 2 years experience working in I&T
Experience working with software-intensive systems and open architectures
Desired Skills and Experience:
Active Top Secret Security Clearance
Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable; Radar, Electronic Warfare, Acoustic, Antenna Apertures, Sensor Resource Management, Sea/Air/Space, Large-Scale Platform Test Systems, Cyber Physical Systems, Open System Architectures (UCI, OMS, COARPS)
Proficiency in Java, C/C++ or Python
Proficiency in automated test tools and techniques
Familiarity with MBSE tools such as Cameo (MagicDraw), Sparx Enterprise Architect, IBM Rational Rhapsody
Familiarity with specific government open architectures (e.g., Open Mission Systems)
