Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Director, Business Systems in Woods Hole, Massachusetts
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution seeks a Director, Business Systems leader for the strategic and collaborative development, implementation and use of administrative business information systems. This key role focuses on the services and procedures, policies, and standards to continuously improve administrative effectiveness, including those systems that are essential to Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Marine Operations, Development, Grants & Contracts, Facilities, EH&S and Legal, collectively known as Finance and Operations (F&O). Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Services (IS), the Director, Business Systems role serves as part of the IS senior leadership team and works closely with F&O leaders and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize information systems implementations. This position communicates institutional requirements to vendors and outside organizations, and is the primary communicator of project status, risks, issues, and expectations. This is a regular full-time position and is eligible for full benefits. The successful candidate will have the option to work a hybrid remote/onsite schedule with onsite presence expected when necessary.
Management of IS staff in support of managing Finance and Operations (F&O) information systems and services
Develop, implement and maintain a business systems strategy
Identify business needs and develop workable solutions for customers. These solutions may include enhancements to existing applications and systems, new software packages, and/or custom programs
Identify, recommend, purchase, configure, implement and operate hardware and software for supported functions
Define IS standards, processes and policies in compliance with external auditors
Prepare and manage the IS F&O operating and capital budgets while assisting with the overall IS budget
In conjunction with supported functions, prepare, test, and maintain a disaster recovery plan for F&O systems
In conjunction with supported functions, develop and maintain documentation, procedures, security, and training of staff members and end users
Maintain professional expertise in computing systems and technology.
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and/or Computer Science
15+ years of progressively responsible management experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience) including experience with system installation, configuration, administration, and integration; and project management
Direct personnel and functional management experience required.
Experience implementing and supporting both cloud and on-premises financial and administrative systems including ERP, HRIS, BI/DW Analytics, and financial reporting required.
Must possess strong collaborative and mentoring skills
Must be a goal-oriented, highly-motivated self-starter wtih a strong orientation to customer service
Experience with project management and application development methodologies preferred
Demonstrated effective vendor management and experience with information technology providers desired
