GAF Lead Agility Coach - Remote in Worcester, Massachusetts

Job Description:


Reporting to GAF’s Manager, Agile Coaching Team, the Lead Agility Coach is a senior professional role responsible for a team’s effective deployment of Agile methods through the Company. As such, s/he will coach, mentor, and guide our people to figure out the best solutions for their specific department challenges. The Lead Agility Coach will analyze the organization's existing infrastructure and implement improvements to help streamline processes and create efficiencies. Over the long-term, the Lead Agility Coach will play a key role in the long-term strategy across the entire organization, helping our teams to deliver better products in a faster, more efficient manner. Note that this role is responsible for significant Company impact through exposure to, and partnership with, senior leadership.


Strategy (Plan)

⦁ Coach senior management and executive leadership in agile practices to ensure adoption of best practices from top-down

⦁ Engage with the entire organization system, including senior/executive leadership

⦁ Develop a partnership with unit leaders to accelerate the transformation journey

⦁ Design a strategy for the organizational adoption of Agile, including every stage of adoption:

⦁ Introduction of Agile and employee education

⦁ Fostering of teams and cultures that practice Agile

⦁ Sustaining of Agile methodologies

⦁ Continually offering strategies for improvement

⦁ Apply system thinking to surface the bottlenecks and dysfunctions

⦁ Evaluate and advise on the details of Agile Frameworks, with particular emphasis on tailoring messages to the appropriate audience level (executive vs. management)

⦁ Advising process and structural changes at the Company and organization level

⦁ Drive cultural change by championing an agile mindset and ensure the organization is at the forefront of industry best practices

Implementation (Do)

⦁ Effectively communicate agile principles, scrum practices and overall operating model across the organization, particularly at executive and senior management levels

⦁ Design and deploy governing policies to support Agile-based approaches

⦁ Facilitate large events /open dialog sessions to enable agility

⦁ Develop a partnership with Company and unit leaders to accelerate the transformation journey

⦁ Work with senior leaders to identify priorities, and with their project teams to analyze current systems and processes and design a strategy for the adoption of agile best practices

⦁ Coach executive and senior managers on Agile Practices and how to integrate them into strategic and operating decisions

⦁ Educate employees at all levels, including executives and senior management, on Agile principles, providing them with tools for implementing the process in their own work

⦁ Provide training sessions and teach valuable skills that lead toward the organization-wide adoption of Agile methodologies.

⦁ Overcome resistance to change through clear and targeted communication

⦁ Facilitate just-in-time and continuous learning and development through individual and team coaching at senior organization levels

Validation (Check)

⦁ Guide teams to help them stay on track with agile techniques, fine-tuning approaches as needed to ensure the overall strategy is being met

⦁ Hold stand-up meetings with cross-functional teams to review project status

⦁ Champion the use of metrics and other objective measures across teams

⦁ Undertake daily follow-ups with individual team members to ensure projects are on track and goals are being met

Improvement (Act)

⦁ Keep an objective perspective on issues and troubleshoots by applying agile principles

⦁ Support teams in determining the resource allocation to maintain agile practices and ensure smooth project delivery"

⦁ Promote and advocate a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones, and being accountable for them

⦁ Lead post-deployment Agile workshops for executives and managers of development and functional teams, as well as other key stakeholders

Required Qualifications

⦁ 7+ years of experience as an Agile Coach

⦁ Experience in Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe)

⦁ Scrum Master certification (required)

⦁ Experience implementing agile techniques in different cultures and environments

⦁ Experience running agile projects of varying size and complexity

⦁ An excellent communicator and motivator

⦁ Programming experience where needed to support deployment of Agile or Lean tools

⦁ Experience coaching teams in Agile adoption or as a Scrum Master

⦁ Experience coaching at large organizations or Fortune 500 companies

⦁ Experience working closely with executive and senior leadership on strategic projects
