General Summary:The Solutions Engineer works in direct partnership with other technical resources throughout the company to build and integrate the hardware, middleware, software, and off premise computing resources needed to deliver the computing, communication, collaboration and security needs of our dynamic and evolving enterprise. They collaborate with our business partners to ensure that technology delivers business value. In addition, they work to ensure successful implementation of all technologies and partner closely with third party/cloud vendors to ensure proper integration of the technology.The technical scope of the Solutions Engineer typically includes one or more of the following:•Networks and data communication•Telecommunication systems•Mainframe, Server and desktop systems•Storage and data management solutions•Information Security•Application/Infrastructure Monitoring
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The management of the capability, functionality and sustainability of infrastructure components to meet current and forecast needs in a cost effective manner.
The provision of specialist expertise to facilitate and execute the selection and installation of system software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products and other utility software.
The development and exploitation of expertise in any specific area of technology, technique, method, product or application area.
The capability to recognize and exploit technical opportunities that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
The incremental and logical integration and testing of components and/or subsystems and their interfaces in order to create operational services.
The identification and management of external suppliers to ensure successful delivery of products and services required by the business.
The selection, design, justification, implementation, and operation of information security controls and management strategies to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems with legislation, regulation and relevant standards.
Develops strategies to ensure all the performance measures of all IT services meet the needs of the business and of any service requirements or service level agreements which may be in place. Ensures that the policy and standards for capacity management are fit for purpose, current and are correctly implemented. Reviews new business proposals and provides specialist advice on capacity and demand issues.
Evaluates new system software, reviews system software updates and identifies those that merit action.
Adherence and input into the organization's architectural direction.
Key skills required for this role are: Python, Ancible, Ruby, Cloud Forms, Azure and AWS
Bachelors Degree preferred, or equivalent experience
