JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversight for Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance and assurance initiatives and activities providing adherence to legal, regulatory, CBRE policy, and contractual requirements.

The role will primarily focus on driving the execution, adoption, and sustaining of global systems, procedures, and policies through account and site level audit verification to drive accountability into all levels of our business within GWS Enterprise Accounts (EA) and Project Management (PJM).

The position will report into the Global Head, HSE for GWS EA and PJM and forms part of the Global HSE leadership team.

This senior position will have global responsibility ensuring sector and regional alignment and consistency to deliver a consistent customer experience related to policy deployment and management system implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop HSE strategies to address compliance and performance gaps in support of the organization and HSE strategic plans.

Lead the development of a global management system for HSE.

Establish global management system accreditation approach to 3 rd party scheme ISO 14001 and 45001 – offering market differentiation and customer consistency in the delivery of HSE.

Build a global framework for identification and validation against applicable HSE legal requirements as well as storage of evidence though legal registers.

Develops processes and provides oversight to ensure integrity in our injury/illness recordkeeping, including classification (lagging indicators) and our leading HSE performance indicators.

Working with Enterprise Risk Management, build global HSE policy framework for Global Workforce Solutions EA and PJM Tier 2 global policies, along with a standardized system for development of associated regional or account-level programs.

Build and drive execution of prioritized, global audit strategy focusing on proper management of key risks.

Direct the Corporate HSE governance process including assurance, compliance initiatives, and best practice exchanges.

Participates on Corporate HSE Audit Teams in support of the Corporate HSE Performance Auditing Program.

Provides direct visibility to regulatory compliance challenges to ensure proper leadership engagement and rapid response to HSE compliance needs.

Serves as a technical liaison for HSE with business lines and operational HSE on compliance issues that involve regulatory or other external/3 rd party agencies.

Monitors and stays apprised of changing health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance requirements and industry best practices globally ensuring they are built into our change management process, where necessary.

Timely communication of all findings, concerns and deficiencies to the responsible management team and ensures that issues, concerns and deficiencies are corrected – per pre-defined and agreed processes and evidence of closure. Develops and implements strategic solutions that will support management's efforts to improve and maintain compliance as required.

Manages and oversees the interactions with government agencies, professional HSE groups, community advisory panels, corporate HSE officers, and all internal safety activities.

Collaborates successfully with other departments, including People, Legal, D&T, Technical Excellence, and Risk, to complete the essential duties listed above.

Other duties may be assigned.

Up to 25% travel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the planning, organization, and controls for compliance and assurance activities globally in collaboration with the Global Head HSE, HSE Regional Leaders and Sector Leaders, Legal, People, and Commercial & Operational Leadership.

A strong people leader who naturally creates followership, is visible and leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values and effectively driving results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university in occupational safety, public health, law, industrial hygiene, science, engineering, or related field. MBA is a plus.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive global management experience including HSE or related management functions.

Must have strong technical and regulatory knowledge in health, safety and environmental affairs.

Professional background with systems implementations, re-engineering, and other large/complex projects.

Leadership experience with large organizations supporting policy making, globalization, change management, and cultural change.

A proven track record of executing and operationalizing a global strategy successfully across a complex, regional structure including successfully driving a change agenda.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Certifications in the field of HSE such as the CSP, CIH, CHMM or other certifications in the field of EHS are highly desirable.

Qualifications in auditing such as lead auditor certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are desirable.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Clear understanding and articulation of HSE Management Systems – leadership commitment, accountability, effective communication, auditing, and performance metrics.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the position is $170,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $200,00 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
